Four streets east

Afghan Gallery opened in 1983 and spent its whole life at 327 Brunswick Street. The room was small and the tables were close together.

The new home is the ground floor of 45 Derby Street, Collingwood. It seats seventy.

Everything else stays. If you have been coming to us since the eighties, you will know the food the moment it reaches the table.

Lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Sunday. Pick the day and the hour below and the table is yours.

Before you come

Are you open yet?

We open on Saturday 7 November 2026 at 45 Derby Street, Collingwood. Opening night is dinner only, then lunch and dinner from Sunday 8 November. Bookings are open now.

Where did you move from?

327 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, home from 1983 until the start of 2026. The lease came to an end and we have moved four streets east.

Can you cook around allergies and dietary needs?

Tell us when you book and remind us when you arrive, and we will work around it. The kitchen handles nuts, gluten, dairy and sesame, so we cannot promise any dish is completely free of a given allergen.

How do I get there, and where do I park?

Tram 86 to stop 16, Peel Street, a few minutes on foot from Smith Street. Victoria Park station is a longer walk. There is street parking around Derby Street, but read the signs, because the restrictions change block to block.

Does this website book my table?

No. The form writes your request out and hands it back to you to send or read down the phone. Nothing is stored here, and a table is only booked once we have confirmed it with you.
