Draft, not yet in force. These pages were prepared without legal advice and still contain details marked in red that only the owners can confirm. Have them checked by an Australian solicitor or an accountant familiar with the business, fill in the marked fields, then delete this banner before the site goes public.
How this website handles information, what it does and does not do, and the terms that apply to bookings at Afghan Gallery Restaurant.
Drafted 8 September 2026, updated 30 October 2026
Australian Consumer Law expects a customer to be able to identify and contact the business they are dealing with. These are the details for this site.
Nothing of its own. This site has no server of its own, no database, no accounts and no logging. The one exception is the booking panel on the home page, which is provided by Now Book It, the reservation service we use. It is shown inside our page but runs on Now Book It's servers, and anything you type into it goes to Now Book It, not to this website.
Now Book It (Now Book It Pty Ltd, Australia) handles the booking on our behalf: it takes your name, phone number, email address, the date, time and size of the booking, and any notes you add, sends the booking to the restaurant and sends the confirmation back to you. Its own privacy policy applies to what happens inside that panel. We receive the booking details from it and nothing more.
If you email, call, or book through Now Book It, we hold what you gave us: your name, phone number, email address if you provided one, the date, time and size of the booking, and anything you told us about allergies, access needs or an occasion.
We use it only to arrange and confirm your booking and to reach you if something changes. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone else for their own purposes. We do not add you to a mailing list from a booking.
If you tell us about an allergy or a medical dietary need, that is sensitive information. We pass it to the kitchen so your meal is safe, and we do not use it for anything else.
Booking details are kept only while they are useful for running the booking and dealing with anything that follows it, then deleted. Confirm a retention period the business will actually keep to, for example 12 months.
To confirm: the email account and any booking system used, and whether they store data outside Australia. Gmail, for example, stores data overseas and that must be disclosed here.
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us on the details above and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Many small businesses in Australia sit below the Privacy Act 1988 turnover threshold and are not bound by the Australian Privacy Principles. That exemption does not extend to a business that collects health information, and an allergy or medical dietary note given with a booking is health information. Because we ask about allergies, we treat ourselves as bound by the Australian Privacy Principles regardless of turnover, and this policy is written on that basis.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first. If that does not resolve it you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
This site describes the restaurant and lets you prepare a booking enquiry. It is not a reservation system. Sending an enquiry does not create a booking. A table exists only once we have confirmed it with you by phone or email.
The dishes and prices shown are a guide and may change. The restaurant is not yet open and the opening date depends on matters outside our control, including regulatory approvals. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance.
The words, the logo, the drawing of the Brunswick Street shopfront and the photographs belong to the business or are used with permission. Please do not reproduce them commercially without asking. The typefaces Melodrama and Author are used under the ITF Free Font License, and DM Mono under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Confirm who created the shopfront drawing and who took each photograph of the Brunswick Street rooms and food, and that the business holds the rights to publish them.
We try to keep the site accurate but do not guarantee it is complete or error free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from relying on it.
Nothing here excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Those guarantees apply regardless of anything on this page.
These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.
Afghan Gallery Restaurant holds Victorian liquor licence number 32358360, a Restaurant and Cafe licence, for the premises at 45 Derby Street, Collingwood. Confirm the transfer of this licence into the business's name has been finalised with Liquor Control Victoria before publishing this number, and update it if a new licence number is issued.
In line with the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 (Vic) and the conditions of our licence, alcohol is served to accompany a meal and only during our advertised trading hours. We will not serve alcohol to anyone under 18 or to a patron who is intoxicated or disorderly, and we ask for photo ID from anyone who appears under 25. Staff may refuse service, or ask a patron to leave, at their discretion.
Minors are welcome on the premises while dining with an adult, in line with our licence. Confirm the exact condition this licence places on minors on the premises and tighten this sentence to match it exactly.
We do not permit BYO alcohol. Confirm this is correct for the new premises.
Victorian law bans smoking and vaping inside licensed premises and within four metres of an entrance, under the Tobacco Act 1987 (Vic). This applies throughout the restaurant.
This website takes no payment. There is no checkout, no card form and no payment processor connected to it. Nothing on this site can charge you.
Let us know as early as you can so the table can go to someone else. A phone call is best.
We do not currently take a deposit or charge a cancellation or no-show fee for any booking. To confirm before opening: whether a deposit is taken for large groups or functions, how much, and how far ahead a booking can be cancelled without losing it. If a fee is introduced, it will be disclosed to you before you confirm the booking, will reflect our genuine estimated loss rather than operate as a penalty, and we will not charge both a forfeited deposit and a separate no-show fee for the same booking.
Under the Australian Consumer Law, meals must be of acceptable quality and match how they were described. If a dish is not right, tell a staff member while you are with us and we will fix it, replace it, or not charge for it.
Those consumer guarantees cannot be signed away and are not affected by anything on this page.
Tell us when you book and again when you arrive. The kitchen handles nuts, gluten, dairy and sesame, so we cannot promise any dish is completely free of a given allergen. Confirm this wording with the kitchen against how the new premises actually operates, and check it against the allergen matrix in the operations manual.
